Linthumbwi and the Roach

Linthumbwi are African Red Army Ants that are ruthless in their path and very willing to bite what is in their way. When I excitedly took this video of them, a few took advantage of the moment and found my feet. It’s amazing how such a small thing can cause such a painful bite! But as fast as they came upon my lawn, they left and the rains came.

As aggressive as such small creatures can be, large insects like this cockroach (about the size of a small mouse) can be quite passive. I found this interesting being on top of my bedroom door the other morning. An interesting way to wake up! The wonderful man who does yard work for me escorted the cockroach outside. No need to kill something so cute!
